farm appreciates the ambition of “write the future” by w+k…
and wish we had the client trust and production budget to get it done.
it’s no small feat.
we think it’s hard to overstate the importance of the world cup in most countries, and we think w+k have done a nice job of communicating that…
as americans’ ourselves, we have to admit we like it.
that said, we can’t help but think the purpose of this 3 minute advertising is to convince the “non-believers” (ie- us, the americans) that the world cup is the most important sporting event in the world. period.
but if everyone else out side the u.s. already knows this…
and assuming nike is fighting adidas for share outside the u.s…
it makes us wonder if ”write the future” achieves the marketing objective?
it’s clearly awesome… but does it preach to the converted?
or only the people who are much more concerned with a possible celtics lakers matchup in june?
